“Resilience is a theme that has seemed increasingly relevant these past years. All the usual changes, unknowns and uncertainties of life have felt amplified, intensified and exaggerated to the point of feeling overwhelming and incomprehensible.
For me, resilience comes from immersing myself in the simple beauties of our natural world, itself amazingly resilient. Being around plants, animals, and terrain that keep going with their living and seasons, without getting caught up in what goes on in our human world, brings me a sense of peace and stability; I can borrow their resilience.
The act of creating also fosters resilience, allowing me to take refuge in expression and play with the materials. This creativity provides a means for connecting deeply with what’s inside me. My works represent how I interact with both my inner world and the natural world through refuge in creativity.”
