The Cypress College Art Department offers a variety of A.A. degree options

ASSOCIATE IN ARTS IN
ART HISTORY FOR TRANSFER
DEGREE (AA-T) Program Code: 1A31986

This curriculum is designed to provide an opportunity for the Art History major to achieve an Associate in Arts Degree in Art History for Transfer (AA-T in Art History) which completes the first and second year require- ments for transfer to a four-year public California institution . This degree provides lower division major and general education preparation for students interested in transferring to four-year universities as Art History majors . The study of Art History is an interdisciplinary, critical study of human history through the perspective of visual culture . Students explore the various areas of Art History to build a foundation for future creative, interpretive, analytical work . While at least a baccalaureate degree is recommended preparation for those considering professional careers, completion of this curriculum will demonstrate commitment to the field and provide comprehensive preparation for further academic study through upper-division course work . This curriculum specifically prepares the prospective transfer student for upper division course work in Art History or a similar major at a California State University (CSU) campus . Students should consult a counselor, the Transfer Center and the catalog of the transfer college or university to plan a specific program of study to meet the college or university’s requirements .

ASSOCIATE IN ARTS IN
STUDIO ARTS FOR TRANSFER

This curriculum is designed to provide an opportunity for the Studio Arts Degree major to achieve an Associate in Arts in Studio Arts for Transfer (AA-T in Studio Arts) which completes the first and second year requirements for transfer to a four-year public California institution . This degree provides lower division major and general education prepa- ration for students interested in transferring to four-year universities as Studio Arts majors . The study of Studio Arts is an interdisciplinary, critical study of technical development, as well as the foundation for all studio based courses . Students explore the various areas of studio art to build a foundation for future creative, interpretive, analytical work and portfolios . While at least a baccalaureate degree is recommended preparation for those considering professional careers, completion of this curriculum will demonstrate commitment to the field and provide comprehensive preparation for further academic study through upper- division course work . This curriculum specifically prepares the prospec- tive transfer student for upper division course work in Studio Arts or a similar major at a California State University (CSU) campus . Students should consult a counselor, the Transfer Center and the catalog of the college or university to plan a specific program of study to meet the college or university’s requirements .

ASSOCIATE IN ARTS DEGREE
ART Program Code: 1A03776

This program is designed to prepare the student in the develop- ment of conceptual and technical skills required by artists in certain occupations .

To earn an Associate Degree students must complete: (1) all major course requirements with a minimum grade of “C”; (2) 25 units of General Education Graduation Requirements; (3) the cultural diver- sity and reading requirements; (4) any elective courses to complete a minimum of 60 units; and, (5) have a minimum GPA of 2 .0 . At least 50% of all major course work must be completed at Cypress College .

Courses that fulfill major requirements for an Associate Degree at Cypress College might not be the same as those required for completing the major at a transfer institution offering a Baccalaureate Degree .
